Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest
Thank you, Michael Rappaport! I thoroughly enjoyed Beats, Rhymes & Life (the movie…definitely not my favorite Tribe album). I could’ve watched this movie and probably any documentary about 90′s hip-hop all day long. The movie is interesting, entertaining, funny, sad, and seemingly honest. The music is great, and I loved all of the concert footage. It brought me back to a time and place of which I have nothing but the best memories. I moved to NYC in 1994, and that was definitely the time and definitely the place.
I also finally watched Wasteland which had been sitting in my instant Netflix queue for way too long. Excellent, excellent, excellent. Really inspirational, emotional, and a great story all around. A beautiful combination of art, environmentalism, humanity, and friendship.
I loved these movies for different reasons, but some of the same as well. They’re both just plain good, so see them both if you haven’t already.

I really enjoyed Wasteland, too (for all the same reasons). Will have to check out the Tribe Called Quest documentary based on your recommendation – thanks!
I’ve seen it twice already. Loved Beats Rhymes & Life (coincidentally not my fave ATCQ album either, I’m a Low End Theory girl).
Hello, I just watched beats rhymes&life and it was very entertaining. I knew it before, but Q-Tip is a bit of a nut job! Dude is brilliant though so I guess it’s alright!
