Odd Blood

Yeasayer Rules.

Been meaning to mention this for a while now, but I loooooove the new Yeasayer album.  I don’t use this word very often, but I think it’s kind of brilliant.  A great combo of complexity, melody, emotion, and energy, it’s quickly become my favorite gym album as well as just plain awesome to listen to any time.  My only complaint is that I’m afraid I’ll listen to it too much and then be sick of hearing it.

In listening to Odd Blood, I’ve wondered if the band knew they were making such a great record while they were making it.  It’s interesting when a relatively unknown band really breaks through with something special.  I often wonder what went on during the making of, and whether or not success is pleasantly surprising or was it expected.  Anyway, you should buy it.

  • YES! I couldn’t agree more. I’ve been meaning to write pretty much this exact same review for the last 6 or so weeks, and now that you have, I’ve felt comfortable not even commenting on yours for another 2 weeks. Thank you for feeding into my procrastination. I think this is the best album I’ve heard in at least 2 years.
