Review Santa Fe: Day 2

Images still are not uploading so you just get some rants today.  I just finished four reviews, and I must say I haven’t felt this out of my element in a long time.  Not that that is a bad thing at all.  Sometimes, I think it’s good to be uncomfortable.  It makes you realize that everyone, including oneself, needs and thrives on growth.  Without growth, you remain the same content little jerk, going though life thinking that you’re the greatest and need no improvement.  I can honestly say that after today’s reviews, I am officially in need of improvement.  The art review is not my normal scene.  Stick me in an office with a photo editor or art director, and I’m fine.  The work is what it is.  They either respond favorably or negatively.  The art world is that, and then some….what is the intent behind the work?  Why do you take these pictures?  The pressure for those answers to be good and meaningful is pretty intense.  This is what I have been thinking about all of last night and today.
I have finally met in person some photographers I only knew of electronically – the lovely Aline Smithson, Kevin Miyazaki, and Jeff Hutchens.  Not to mention, I am sharing a room with my great friend Lydia Burkhalter and was so excited to re-connect with another college buddy, the awesome Sarah Wilson.  So…yeah, I’m trying to fit in and not be the quiet girl who shuffles off to her room to blog instead of socializing and geeking out on everyone’s work…..oh…whoops.
