If you are in London tomorrow night, which might actually be tonight if you really are in London….I don’t know. November 4th. I have an image (above) in the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize Exhibition. I did not win the big prize (dammit!), but regardless, it’s pretty darn exciting to have an image in an exhibit at The National Portrait Gallery. The details are as follows:
The opening is:
November 4th, 2008
7:00pm – 9:00pm
National Portrait Gallery
St Martin’s Place
London WC2H 0HE
The exhibition runs from November 6th, 2008 until February 15, 2009. I’m fairly sure the opening is invitation only. Alas, I will not be there. I really really wish I could be. I haven’t been to London since I was a teenager, and this would be super fun to see in person. Who knows, maybe I’ll get there before Feb. 15th. Also, the Annie Leibovitz / A Photographer’s Life exhibition is also on view at The National Portrait Gallery until Feb. 1, 2009. I saw this exhibit with my mom at The High Museum in Atlanta. I also have the book. This is probably my favorite collection of her work. It’s personal, it’s commercial, it’s emotional, and it’s a great example of how a photographer’s point of view carries into every facet of her (or his) photography.
So, if you are in London…you have your mission, should you choose to accept it. Us Americans will be here, voting on a little thing we like to call the Presidential Election.
